Where does Answers Within provide care?

Answers Within PLLC provides psychiatric and integrative care in Arizona and Hawaii, with services designed a little differently in each state.

At Answers Within, medication is honored as one of many tools that may help you feel more balanced, grounded, and able to engage in deeper healing. Sometimes the right support creates enough stability and clarity for the deeper work to begin.

Arizona
Answers Within is a private-pay practice offering psychiatric evaluations, medication management, integrative psychiatric care, ketamine treatment, and select in-person healing experiences. Insurance is not billed for Arizona appointments, although your insurance may still be used at the pharmacy for covered prescriptions.

Hawaii
Answers Within offers psychiatric evaluations, medication management, and integrative psychiatric care primarily through telehealth, with limited in-person availability when I am on-island. Insurance may be used for covered psychiatric evaluations, medication-management visits, and eligible psychotherapy services once Answers Within is participating with your health plan.

Private-pay services—including ketamine treatment, Reiki, shamanic and energy work, and other elective healing experiences—are separate from insurance-covered psychiatric care.

Whether you come to Answers Within for medication support, integrative psychiatry, or deeper healing work, we'll create a path that honors your individual needs, goals, and preferences.

Do you accept insurance?

Arizona: No. Answers Within is a private-pay practice in Arizona and does not bill insurance for services. Upon request, a superbill may be provided for eligible services that you can submit to your insurance company for possible out-of-network reimbursement. Coverage and reimbursement are determined by your individual plan

Hawaii: Answers Within is currently completing insurance enrollment and credentialing in Hawaii. Accepted insurance plans will be listed here as contracts become effective.

If you have questions about private-pay options or Hawaii insurance coverage, please contact Answers Within before scheduling.

What is integrative psychiatry?

Integrative psychiatry looks beyond symptoms and medications to understand the whole person.

Depending on your individual needs, our work may explore medication, emotional health, nervous-system regulation, sleep, lifestyle, relationships, patterns, stress, mind-body connection, and overall wellbeing.

Medication can be an important tool, but it does not have to be the center of your healing.

Do I have to take medication?

No.

Medication is one of many tools available in psychiatric treatment. Together, we consider your symptoms, history, preferences, goals, and previous treatment experiences to determine what approach makes sense for you.

When medication is appropriate, my philosophy is to prescribe thoughtfully and avoid unnecessary medication whenever reasonably possible.

Do you prescribe controlled medications, including stimulants and benzodiazepines?

Yes, when clinically appropriate, but controlled medications require careful evaluation and monitoring and are never guaranteed.

ADHD treatment may include stimulant or non-stimulant medication along with behavioral, lifestyle, and nervous-system strategies.

Answers Within takes a minimal-use approach to benzodiazepines. They are generally not used as routine long-term treatment. For individuals already taking them, treatment may include a gradual, individualized taper when appropriate. Limited short-term or crisis-related use may occasionally be considered based on clinical circumstances.

What if I am experiencing a psychiatric emergency?

Answers Within is not an emergency or crisis service.

If you are experiencing an immediate or life-threatening emergency, call 911 or go to the nearest emergency department.

Do you provide psychotherapy?

Yes. Therapeutic work may be incorporated into psychiatric care when clinically appropriate. Sessions may include supportive psychotherapy, emotional processing, exploration of patterns and relationships, mindfulness, nervous-system regulation, guided imagery, and other therapeutic approaches based on your individual needs.

Some clients also work with an established therapist for ongoing psychotherapy. I welcome collaboration with your therapist and other members of your care team, with your permission, to create a more connected approach to your treatment.

For those seeking deeper integrative, spiritual, energy-based, or ketamine/psychedelic integration work, Answers Within also offers separate private-pay services. See the FAQ below for more information.

Do you offer Reiki, energy work, shamanic practices, or integration?

Yes. Answers Within offers optional private-pay integrative, spiritual, and energy-based services for those who want to explore healing beyond traditional psychiatric care.

Depending on your goals, private-pay sessions may include:

  • Ketamine or psychedelic integration and meaning-making
  • Reiki and energy work
  • Shamanic journeying
  • Guided visualization
  • Ancestral exploration
  • Ritual and ceremony
  • Nature-based practices
  • Spiritual reflection and exploration

Shamanic practices may include journeying, ritual, ancestral exploration, connection with nature, symbolism, and other spiritually oriented practices intended to support personal insight, meaning, and connection.

These services are individualized and participation is always voluntary. You never have to participate in spiritual or energy-based practices to receive psychiatric care from Answers Within.

Private-pay spiritual, shamanic, Reiki, and energy-based services are separate from insurance-billed psychiatric treatment and are not submitted to insurance.

In Hawaii, when ketamine or psychedelic integration is provided specifically as medically necessary psychotherapy and meets the requirements of a covered psychotherapy service, the psychotherapy portion may be eligible for insurance billing, depending on your plan and Answers Within's participation with that plan. Elective Reiki, shamanic, ceremonial, or energy-based services remain private pay.

These complementary services are not intended to replace appropriate medical, psychiatric, or psychological care.

Do you offer ketamine treatment?

Do insurance plans cover ketamine sessions?
Yes. Answers Within provides individualized ketamine treatment for appropriately screened clients. A comprehensive psychiatric evaluation is required to determine whether ketamine is a safe and appropriate treatment option.

Arizona
Ketamine services are offered on a private-pay basis and may include:

  • In-office IM ketamine
  • Prescribed ketamine for appropriate at-home use
  • Ketamine preparation and integration
  • Private experiences including I AM and Release & Reclaim

Ketamine treatment is individualized based on your needs, response, and treatment goals.

Hawaii
Ketamine services are also available on a private-pay basis.

Answers Within collaborates with Hawaii therapists providing Ketamine-Assisted Psychotherapy (KAP) and can provide psychiatric evaluation, ketamine prescribing, and medical management while your therapist provides the therapeutic component of care.

For appropriate clients with limited access to in-person care, treatment may be coordinated with a therapist participating virtually and a responsible adult physically present in the home as part of an individualized safety plan.

Limited in-person ketamine services may also be available when I am on-island.

Insurance & Ketamine Care
In Hawaii, the psychiatric evaluation may be billed to insurance when it is a covered, medically necessary service and Answers Within participates with your plan.

Separate psychotherapy and integration sessions may also be eligible for insurance coverage when they meet your plan's requirements.

The ketamine treatment itself and private ketamine experiences are private pay and are not billed to insurance.

For Arizona, psychiatric evaluations and ketamine services through Answers Within remain private pay.

What’s the difference between IM ketamine and ketamine troches?
IM ketamine is administered in-office for a more immersive experience. Ketamine troches are oral lozenges prescribed through a pharmacy and may be used in-office or within your home.

Do I need a psychiatric evaluation first?
Yes. A comprehensive psychiatric evaluation is required to ensure ketamine therapy is safe and appropriate for you.

How many sessions are recommended?
While some clients experience meaningful benefit after a single session, evidence and clinical experience suggest that lasting change is often enhanced through a series of sessions that allow for continued healing, skill development, and integration.

What is integration and why is it important?
Integration helps process your experience and apply insights into everyday life through clinical and coaching support.
